Fabrics & Garment Care

Stretch Cotton Lycra fabrics are great for underwear. A heavier fabric that’s really soft too. The same styles/patterns I have available for swimsuits make great underwear if made from cotton lycra. Comfortable and a pouch that finally fits!!

I have a limited supply of some of these fabrics and may not be carrying them again. You may be asked to choose another if it isn’t in stock.

To insure that your suit/underwear lasts, site please Hand wash in mild detergent, cold water, air dry, do not dry clean, do not use bleach and rinse after swimming.

I do offer sheer/mesh and glistenette fabrics as an option. The stitching doesn’t hold up as well as the other fabrics. I do have customers that order only the sheer mesh or glistenette. However, they are cared for by hand washing and air drying.

Please email if you wish to order sheer/mesh or glistenette fabric. I have many colors available but do not want to list them on the site. I will send you a zipped file with all available sheer mesh and glistenette fabrics. I pride myself on the quality of my product and can’t guarantee anything if you order sheer/mesh or glistenette. Mesh has a larger weave and is sheer but not transparent like glistenette; which is almost identical to nylon stockings.

HILLCREST SWIMWEAR CARE/WASH INSTRUCTIONS

Each item is made right here in the USA in northern Arizona. I do everything myself: I design, pattern, cut and sew each piece. There is no mass production.

In order for your garment to last, I recommend hand washing in the sink (hopefully you have a sink big enough 🙂 with a gentle detergent and air drying. Placing your item in the dryer will break down the fabric much quicker and cause the elastic to loose its elasticity.

After swimming in salt or fresh water, your garment should be rinsed and air dried.

All items in the catalog are made from Cotton Spandex and 85% Nylon and 15% Spandex. Some fabrics are more stretchy than others. Each item is double or triple stitched for strength and cotton elastic is used. Some swimsuit companies use the thin rubber elastic that dries out and looses it’s elasticity.

I you have any questions regarding care of your Hillcrest Swimwear, please don’t hesitate to email me.
